My Story
Fourteen years ago, my life changed forever.
I lost my firstborn son.
There are moments in life that divide time into “before” and “after.” Losing a child is one of them. The world keeps moving. The sun still rises. People still go to work. But inside, everything shifts.
I became a grieving mother.
And at the very same time, I was still a mother to my daughters. They needed me. Their hearts were hurting too. I had to learn how to carry unbearable grief while still packing lunches, answering questions, and showing up every day.
No one prepares you for that.
I quickly realized something that surprised me — the silence. People didn’t know what to say. Some stopped mentioning his name. Others tried to fix what could not be fixed. And slowly, I began to feel as if my motherhood to him had become invisible.
But I am still his mother.
Time does not erase that.
Death does not erase that.
Silence does not erase that.
Over the years, I have learned that grief does not disappear — it changes shape.
Some days it is quiet. Other days it rises unexpectedly, triggered by a memory, a milestone, or a simple moment. Even fourteen years later, I still miss him. I always will.
But I have also learned this:
Grief is not a sign of weakness.
It is evidence of love.
My faith has been a steady anchor in ways I cannot fully explain. There were seasons of strength, and there were seasons of deep questions. I have learned that hope does not always look like joy — sometimes it looks like simply getting out of bed and breathing through the day.
“You Still a Mom” was born from that journey.
I created this space for mothers who feel unseen. For women who carry love that has nowhere obvious to land. For those who are strong one day and undone the next.
Here, we speak our children’s names.
Here, we honor the motherhood that remains.
Here, we hold sorrow and hope in the same hands.
Wherever you are in your journey — whether your loss was recent or years ago, whether your faith feels strong or fragile — you are welcome here.
